ENOTECA SOCIALE – Another Dundas and Ossington outing…MY FAVORITE BY FAR!!!

WOW WOW WOW…I’ve heard hype about Enoteca Sociale for a while and now see why!  Bang on for every dish that hit our table!  http://www.sociale.ca/

This posting is lame because I forgot my camera AGAIN and couldn’t take photos but it’s kinda a good thing for me because it just means I’ll have to go back soon so I can get the photos I need!

What we ate:

arancini con mozzarella di bufala & ‘nduja  14 – (out of this world, ordered this dish last after many plates already but the table next to us were groaning over this dish so we couldn’t resist)

baked kale, pink lady apples, king oyster mushroom, farro & pine nuts  13 – (this was good, interesting…like nothing I’ve had before.  Of course I’ve had Kale many times (and love it) but this was prepared differently.  Baking the Kale made the edges crisp…different in texture then I was used to but good and worth trying)

grilled octopus, pepper tuffo & potato  19 – (yummy…served with potato, heartier dish, good flavor)

spicy barese sausage, grilled artichokes & shishito peppers, ricotta  19 – (my favorite dish of the night…super super flavor – waiter told us anything pork on the menu was awesome and he was so right.  P.S. chef used to be a Black Hoof.  E.S.  knows meat)

gnocchi, tomato, ‘nduja, stracciatella & basil  16 – (my next fave dish, lightest gnocchi I’ve ever had, like little pillows and although there isn’t a lot of meat in the dish, the rich pork flavor is intense)

sticky toffee pudding, cardamom syrup & vanilla bean ice cream  9 – (guilty, after all this food we still had dessert.  How can you have a perfect Italian meal and not finish it properly with something sweet + espersso, and in this case + grappa)

ONE of the best meals I’ve had.  Would make my top 10 list for sure.  If you haven’t been…GO!  Reminded me of dishes from Mario’s Batali’s Babbo in NYC (my fave resto in the world)

Hungry Yet??

Salt Wine Bar on Ossington (at Dundas). Fantastic! A must try!

This past Monday, I had the pleasure of dining at Salt Wine Bar in the Dundas and Ossington neighborhood!  I had heard good things about this place of the past couple years but didn’t realize exactly how good the food was going to be!  Small plates = perfect for sharing!  I’ll definitely be going back and good to know, it’s open on Monday’s!  (a few good restaurants in that hood are closed on Monday).  Located next to Pizza Libretto…

Pic’s were taken from my cell phone because I forgot my camera.  Quality isn’t as good as usual but you’ll get the gist of it…

I could seriously eat the Baja Grouper Taco’s and Seared Digby Scallops for day and days…perfection!

Terroni Bar Centrale! One of my TO faves!

Last night I went with friends to Terroni in Rosedale and enjoyed a fantastic dinner!  Very large, trendy restaurant with great Italian food and bar.  They take reservations and my favorite part is that they’re opening a roof top patio this summer!  I have a feeling I’ll be there a lot!  🙂  My favorite of all the Terroni’s in Toronto.

Rodeo Brazillian Steakhouse…Toronto

Me and the ladies ventured to Rodeo and experienced steak Brazilian style…it’s no Texas De Brazil but it was a fun night nonetheless.  I think I’m still full 2 days later…

The entertainment was fun…Rio Carnaval celebrations and all!  Unfortunately if you missed out this weekend, you won’t see the same entertainment this year!  It was only this past Fri and Sat…

Worth trying if you are a carnivore like me but I won’t be back anytime soon…too much food!

KULINARY KATE Kottage Kooking!

Spent a few enjoyable days in Thornbury at the cottage with 3 friends and their little boys!  Such a treat!  When I wasn’t playing “Nanny” is was getting busy in the kitchen…check out all our good eats!  Thanks Melissa for a perfect couple days away!  xo

Union 72 – Another Dundas and Ossington neighborhood hit!

Super yummy dinner and amazing value at Union on a Sunday night.  4 course menu for $45 dollars…food was very good!  I’ll be back there on a Sunday night for sure!  I notice on Monday nights, bottles of wine are half price…another good night to try this place out!  For my fellow Toronto foodies, their website lists in-house foodie events (although they need to update it) but it seems worth checking in from time to time to see if they have something different going on…

Great comfort food overall – give it a try!

Dinner at Bar Centrale! Pasta Pasta Pasta…

We were hungry for pasta last night!  We ended up ordering every pasta dish on the menu!  A great place to go with 4 people – that way, you will be able to get a table without too long of a wait (small restaurant and doesn’t take reso’s), and you’ll be able to share many small dishes!  It’s about my 5th time eating at Bar Centrale in the past year and it’s yet to disappoint.  Great bar and bar staff while you wait for your table too!  Feast your eyes and then go check it out for your self!  Terroni Pizza/Pasta is upstairs and they take reservations, I’ll be checking that out this coming Saturday…stay tuned!  🙂
